This is an early masonic badge or pin from a group of the Knights Templar. It hangs in a 2 part medal style. One part with the pin back reads 'SARATOGA 1907' and the second part hangs from it with a link. It is a large cross with a circle around the center of the cross. It reads 'No. 11' at the top, 'N.J.' at the bottom, K and T on the left and right with the cross in the crown in the center. The circle around this center reads 'IVANHOE Commandery'. There is no maker's mark on this badge. It has a simple hook clasp with no lock that is consistent with it as old as 1907. We believe it to be silver plated and is heavily and evenly blackened with tarnish. Perhaps a type of quadruple plating that blackens very similarly. This pin measures about 3 inches long and is 1 3/8 inches at the widest. It is in excellent condition. This piece has a wonderful historical look and makes a great addition to any fraternal organization collection!
