This early cabinet card photograph is of the Henry Herman Ringmyer family.
In the photo he is shown with his wife, Nancy Emelia (Le Bret), and 3 of their 8 children, Jules, Mary and Millie. This cabinet photo measures 4 1/4 by 6 1/2 inches and is in mint condition with all the original sheen. On the bottom front of the card is the photographer's name: McMullen, Mitchell, Or. On the back of the card in pen is written: 'Ringsmyer, Auntie, Jules, Mary, Millie'. Auntie refers to Mrs. Ringsmyer, formerly Nancy Le Bret and sister of Mary Jane Le Bret, who married Ward Swift, whose estate this photo is from. Nancy and Mary Jane's parents were Jules and Dolly (Holcomb) Le Bret. The history of the Ringsmyer family is a very important part of the settling of Eastern Oregon in the mid to late 1800's. You can read more about this family below. This item was part of an estate of Dean Swift, son of Ward Swift, a member of another early pioneering family in Eastern Oregon, that we are currently selling, along with other pieces of military memorabilia, photograhs and other items of interest relating to the Swifts from Eastern Oregon. This is an important addition to any cabinet card or historical Oregon collection!
