This is a cabinet card photograph of Mrs. Sarah Anne Stewart and 2 of her 4 children, Elliot and Edna. Sarah Anne was the daughter of Eli Casey Officer, a well known early pioneer family of Eastern Oregon. Sarah Anne married Eminger (Billy) Stewart after Billy bought a ranch on the John Day River near the town of Dayville from Sarah's father in 1883. The Stewart family is also an important family in Eastern Oregon history. You can read more about the Stewart and Officer families at the link provided below. . This cabinet photo measures 4 1/4 by 6 1/2 inches and is in excellent condition. Nearly all the original sheen is still on the photograph. On the bottom of the front of the card is the photographer's name: U.H. Henry, Long Creek, Oregon. On the back written in pen is 'Mrs. Sarah Stewart, Elliot and Edna'. This item was part of an estate of Dean Swift, a member of another early pioneering family in Eastern Oregon, that we are currently selling, along with other pieces of military memorabilia, photograhs and other items of interest relating to the Swifts from Eastern Oregon. This is a terrific addition to any cabinet card or historical Oregon collection!
